Ben cleans after-hours at the Pleasant Gap Photo License Center.

Benjamin Bishop, an individual supported through Skills Employment Services, began his position at the Pleasant Gap Photo License Center in May.

Ben was offered a permanent position as an after-hours cleaner as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and the implementation of new cleaning procedures at most public places. Ben’s job is to disinfect all surfaces after the center closes, including chairs, counters, walls, and floors. Ben works by himself much of the time, which means he has to be independent and have a strong understanding of his job.

Ben says that he likes this job, even though he had some trouble learning everything at the beginning. He enjoys the space and the quiet setting, and he likes that he can work at his own pace.

While the job at the Photo License Center is an exciting start for Ben, he hopes to one day go to school to become a tour guide. He has a deep interest in world history. He hopes that this job will help him save money, get experience, and reach that goal one day.
