Vines of Hope
(formerly known as the Northern Cambria Drop-In Center)

Skills believes that through natural supports rooted in the community, people with mental illness can regain and realize their strengths, abilities, and potential.

Vines of Hope in Ebensburg is an informal community center that provides a support network for people with mental health concerns — especially those who live or work in northern Cambria County.

Members gather to enjoy a meal together.

Open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, Vines of Hope offers a place for people to gather and enjoy the benefits of recreational, educational and social pursuits in a comfortable, supportive atmosphere. Vines of Hope programs and services are developed by the members through a six-member advisory committee.

Vines of Hope provides support for its members to help them avoid relapse and work toward recovery according to their own needs and wants. This is accomplished by providing opportunities for learning and growth with encouragement and support and through community involvement.

Vines of Hope respects the unique needs of each person and realizes that each person has his or her own recovery goals. Through community and program development, Vines of Hope helps each individual find and employ the means to recovery and reclaim a functional, balanced and rewarding life.

Weekly classes vary according to the interests of the current membership.

Vines of Hope provides peer support, socialization support, personal concerns assistance (e.g., housing, medication) and opportunities for recreation, education, job skills development, and employment information and referrals.

Vines of Hope provides members with opportunities to develop their skills and talents through a variety of monthly events (e.g., movie days, relaxation days, board game days) and weekly classes (e.g., arts and crafts, baking/cooking, community awareness, computers, education, finances, hygiene, sewing, typing). Class offerings vary according to the interests of the current membership.

Transportation to and from Vines of Hope is available to residents of the surrounding area. People who live in northern Cambria County with an access card through medical assistance are eligible for a bus pass from Cambria Area Rural Transit (CART).
