Sixth Annual E.F. “Pat” Houser Memorial Golf Tournament Wrapup

On July 11, 2011 Skills of Central PA, Inc. (Skills) raised $24,200 at its 6th Annual E. F. “Pat” Houser Golf Tournament sponsored by Reliance Bank (Ace); McQuaide Blasko Attorneys at Law (Dinner); Sheetz, Inc. (Platinum); Thompson Pharmacy, Simpson & McCrady, and Wessel & Company (Lunch); and Andrews & Beard Law Office (Putting Contest).

Victorious Team Sheetz

Representing Sheetz Inc. from L to R: Scott Lawhead, Ron Muffie, Carolyn Donaldson (Guest of Honor), Bill Young, and Sean McLanahan.

With temperatures in the low 90s and a slight breeze blowing over the course, 24 teams competing for prizes with the Sheetz team clinching the overall win, followed closely by Andrews & Beard and First National Bank.

Denny Doll from Reliance Bank got ‘Closest to the Pin’, and Bob DeHaas outdistanced his fellow linksters to claim victory in the ‘Longest Drive“ contest. The Putting Contest was won by Ray Kauffman followed by Jared Gorentz from Wessel & Co.

Guest of honor, Carolyn Donaldson, news anchor from WTAJ-TV 10, greeted the players on the 9th hole, where Stuckey Subaru offered a “Hole-in-one” cash prize of $20,000. Unfortunately, no one got a hole in one, but a few shots were close.

All proceeds from this annual tournament benefit The Skills Foundation.

2010 Tailgate and Silent Auction Raises More Money Than Ever!

Joe W and Ron Coder Joe Weilacher gets Ron Coder’s autograph.

The Skills Foundation had the largest silent auction ever. Our 8th Annual Tailgate Party guests bid on many wonderful items — and some got great bargains. Thanks to the many businesses and people who donated items to our silent auction! As a result of your support, the Silent Auction raised $5,000.

One hundred eighty people attended Skills 8th Annual Tailgate Party. Penn State may have lost, but that didn’t dampen the Skills spirit. As a result, The Skills Foundation raised $8,000 for providing services and support otherwise left unfunded.
