Jeremy Andrews

Dear Friends,

Our son Jeremy Andrews was 21 years old when space became available for him at a newly opened community home in State College a few years ago. The administration at Skills lovingly and bravely took on the challenge of managing the lives of three hard-to-manage young men who other local agencies were hesitant to serve.

Times have not always been easy, but due to the attentiveness, understanding, compassion, patience and foresight of Skills’ administration and staff, our son has made a miraculous turnaround in life. He has become a pleasant and cooperative member of the community home, and has held a job at Skills for several years. Jeremy has always wanted to live independently and foundational steps are being taken to pave the way toward his hopes and dreams.

We have been privileged to have reliable residential and vocational Skills staff who have provided consistent care and direction for Jeremy. They have been like family to all of us. As parents and members of the community, we are indebted to show our respect and appreciation to these wonderful people. Our special gifts and endowments can help Skills maintain quality staff and specialized services to the individuals who need it the most.

We hope you will join us in making a gift to The Skills Foundation to help Skills continue to provide Jeremy, and hundreds of others, the opportunity to live with purpose, dignity and to their fullest potential. Please know that a gift of any size is welcome and appreciated. Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Mr and Mrs William Andrews

Today, human service agencies like Skills face an ever-increasing number of mandates from the counties, state, and the Department of Public Welfare without corresponding funding increases. The challenges of the job are considerable.

Your contribution is urgently needed to enhance the services we provide and to help retain skilled, caring staff. Please take a moment to complete and return the enclosed envelope. For as little as 25¢ per day ($91), you can make a difference.
