Clubhouse, Centre County
A Work-Structured Day, Built Around a Personal Schedule

The clubhouse's goal is to help adults with serious mental illness recover their desired roles in the community, with a focus on employment, friendship development, and to access the services and support they may individually need.
Open Monday through Friday during regular business hours, the clubhouse provides a relaxed atmosphere for members to build their self-confidence.

Members commit to a schedule of participation that suits their schedule and can choose to focus on one or more areas of interest, i.e.: kitchen unit, clerical unit, and more. Members participate with the knowledge that the work they do is not paid work, but contributes to the clubhouse's operation and to their self-esteem.

Staff includes a manager who reports to Skills' Director of Community Services, two Psychiatric Rehabilitation Specialists', and one psychiatric rehabilitation practitioner. Together, staff and members develop the programs offered and maintain the clubhouse.
As the clubhouse's programs develop, staff and members may also pursue opportunities for transitional employment in the community. This will enable clubhouse members to take on part-time jobs for a defined period of time.

Skills of Central Pennsylvania, Inc. opened the clubhouse in April, 2002 for people recovering from serious mental illness in Bellefonte, PA. The first in Centre County, the clubhouse is based on the Fountaine House clubhouse model - an internationally recognized clubhouse in New York City. (more)

Drop-In Centre Cambria County
Support Network to Develop Skills and Talents

In 1997, Skills of Central Pennsylvania, Inc. opened the Northern Cambria Drop-In Center (NCDIC) in Ebensburg. Centrally located, NCDIC is an informal community center and support network for people involved with mental health concerns, and especially for those who live or work in the northern part of Cambria County.
Open Tuesday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., the center offers a place for people to come together to develop, enjoy, and benefit from recreational, educational, and social pursuits in a comfortable environment.

Activities include monthly movie days, relaxation days and board game days as well as weekly classes such as art, education, hygiene, computers and many more!
It is our belief that through natural supports rooted in the community the person with mental illness will be better able to regain and realize their strengths, abilities, and potential.
Transportation to and from the center is available to residents of the surrounding area.
People who live in northern Cambria County who have an Access card through the Office of Medical Assistance are eligible for a bus pass for Cambria Area Rural Transportation (CART).
The Center’s programs and services are developed by an advisory committee which is comprised of consumers.
